Meet Our Consultants
President and Lead Consultant
Sandy is the President and founder of Resource Solutions Associates, LLC. Dedicating her career to improving emergency and disaster preparedness, she has over 25 years' experience in emergency management and first response. Sandy has worked for the American Red Cross as a disaster and health and safety educator and in EMS and Fire education in the career technical field for over a decade. She has worked 9-1-1 and other critical transport emergency services and has a 30 year teaching history in everything from CPR to paramedic courses and the Incident Command System. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Emergency and Disaster Management with a Concentration in Community and Workplace Preparedness from the American Public University, and is in the process of earning her Master's in Emergency and Disaster Management. Sandy is an ICS 300/400 instructor, Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certified drill and exercise manager, and carries several specialty instructor certifications.
Sandy has worked with The University of Findlay as an Instructor and Curriculum Developer; The Ohio State University as an ICS instructor, and with numerous conference sponsors as a presenter and speaker. She has been published in the Journal of Emergency Management, IAEM Newsletter, and Crisis Responder Magazine. She has developed curriculum and taught for the State of Ohio, NHSTA, and FEMA. She is a regular speaker at EMS conferences and training, and attends many conferences as an educational materials and consultant vendor. Sandy was awarded the Tiffany Award in 1996 by the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross and was recognized for outstanding work in the Ohio Vocational Education field in 2005 and 2008 by the Ohio Association of Career and Technical Educators. She graduated with honors from APUS in 2006, and was recognized as a Bronze-level ICS instructor by FEMA in 2009.
Sandy lives in Norwalk, OH with her husband Steve and their dogs. She is an avid dog-lover and helps with rescues and animal education efforts in her spare time.
Planner and Consultant
Lauren is a consultant and planner for Resource Solutions Associates and has been with the company since 2008. She holds a master's degree in emergency and disaster management from American Public University and a bachelor's degree in paralegal studies from the University of Toledo. She is a certified EMT, EMS Continuing Education Instructor, and First Aid/CPR Instructor. Lauren also holds credentials as Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) exercise manager and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trainer and is trained to the ICS 400 level.
Lauren's background includes healthcare emergency management, healthcare coalition development, disaster healthcare response, emergency operations plan development, and hazard mitigation planning. She is an experienced education program coordinator, with more than ten years of experience in public safety education. In the classroom, Lauren teaches CPR, First Aid, and safety courses and has spoken at several conferences on emergency management and training topics. She is a former Administrative Officer for OH-1 DMAT, part of the National Disaster Medical System, and has 10 years of experience coordinating and supporting federal disaster medical operations in austere disaster environments. A lifelong resident of northwest Ohio, Lauren currently resides in Norwalk.
